Edu Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal launches ‘DuroKea Series’

The Union Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal has virtually rolled out the ‘DuroKea Series’ on April 17, 2021.

The technology has been developed by a researcher of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Hyderabad. It promises to fight against COVID-19.

Dr. Jyotsnendu Giri, an Associate Professor in Biomedical Engineering and the founder of the EaffoCare Innovation Pvt. Ltd is the man who has developed the ‘DuroKea’ to combat the COVID-19 virus.

DuroKea is aligned with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to become self-reliant, the education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal said, speaking about the DuroKea on the occasion.

DuraKea, the next-generation antimicrobial technology, promises to kill 99.99 percent of germs instantly, and forms a long-lasting protective nanoscale layer for up to 35 days, the education minister said.

Informing about the unique property of the DuraKea, he said that the technology ensures instant killing of germs (within 60 sec) and offers prolonged protection from them.

The lab accredited by the government has certified the antimicrobial property of the DuraKea products, and the field test has been conducted at the IIT campus in Hyderabad, he added.

The education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal also congratulated the DuraKea technology team for its achievement, besides urging students of the institute to continue doing such works in the future.

“IIT Hyderabad is always at the forefront of the cute-edge research. It has proven time and again, especially during this pandemic time. IITH has delivered many solutions, including Low-cost Ventilators, Effective Mask, Mobile Apps, and Fast COVID-19 Test-Kit. Durokea is one such unique invention to come out of IIT Hyderabad to fight against COVID-19. I define IITH as Invent and Innovate in Technology for Humanity and confident that IIT Hyderabad will continue to deliver many such novel innovations,” he said.
