Govt issues SOP ahead of reopening of colleges in Karnataka

The educational institutes will reopen in Karnataka from January 15, 2021, the state government has decided.

The government has also issued a list of COVID-19 safety measures for the reopening of the schools in the state.

Deputy Chief Minister and Minister of Higher Education Dr CN Ashwath Narayan said on January 11, 2021, that the colleges are reopening for all students of undergraduate, postgraduate, engineering, and diploma courses in the state.

With several COVID-19 safety guidelines, the classes for final year students had already been resumed in the state. The colleges in the state are going to start after nearly 10 months of pandemic-induced shutdown.

  • The test for COVID-19 is not mandatory for those students who don’t have any symptoms.
  • Classes are not allowed to accommodate more than 50 percent of the students.
  • Students must wear masks, keep sanitising their hands, and bring their food and water from home when they come to attend their classes at the campus.
  • Students must get their parents’ permission to attend classes in campuses.
  • The COVID-19 safety guidelines must be followed in libraries and canteens of the institutions.
