Ministry of Education felt the importance of Innovation and entrepreneurship and its Innovation cell conceptualized School Innovation Ambassador Training Program for School Teachers.
The program has been designed by the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell and AICTE for School Teachers based on its successful “Innovation Ambassador Training Program for Higher Education Institution’s faculty members”. The training will be delivered in online mode only.
Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, Chairman AICTE stated, “our technical and higher education institutions have now started doing considerably well in building innovation ecosystem within their campuses due to our sustained efforts for last 5 years. But if we wish to further enhance our innovation abilities, then we need to start our interventions at the school level itself, so that we nurture our school students to be creative and think out-of-the-box. I think this Innovation Ambassador program is a major step in that direction and I am happy that AICTE is collaborating with CBSE to take these concepts forward within the school system.”
Dr. Abhay Jere, Chief Innovation Officer at Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell stated that “India is aspiring to become a global hub for Innovation and Start-ups”.
Our students should chase great ideas and not just grades and marks. To change this mindset, we need to emphasize ideation, innovation, and entrepreneurship within our education system and we believe that this School Innovation Ambassador Training Program will give a different perspective to teachers so that they can encourage their students to be creative & become problem solvers.
The program draws its inspiration from New Education Policy 2020 which has laid huge emphasis on promoting out-of-the-box thinking amongst students and nurturing young school students on problem-solving and critical thinking.
The program will strengthen the mentoring capacity of School teachers for Nurturing and handholding ideas from students. The school teachers will be trained on the following five modules: Design Thinking & Innovation
These modules will be offered free of cost to all the selected school teachers. Upon successful completion of the training, these trained teachers shall be designated as ‘Innovation Ambassadors’. More than 10,000 schools have nominated 5 teachers from their school to participate in this training program. The training will be provided to the teachers in a phased manner. The first batch of training will be started from 20th July 2020.
The trained ‘Innovation Ambassadors’ will perform the below tasks at the school level –
