How rote-based learning stops the development of creativity in your child?

Published Date:

The world is full of questions, and creativity is the answer. It requires the ability to analyze, think, imagine, discover, and offer the best possible answers to problems. While convergent thinking seeks to find a single correct answer, the divergent thought process helps to see the problems from different angles and helps for evaluation before their application.

As far as the development of knowledge and human society is concerned, both divergent and convergent thought processes are of equal importance. But the current education system focuses more on testing knowledge than developing it. Rote based learning develops the mind into a machine for storage of the pieces of information. It slows down the thought process, and then it kills that. It emerges as the reason behind failure when the length and breadth of the subject area are increased.

Improve your skills for logical reasoning, problem-solving, critical thinking, and comprehension. Prepare children for a future where the most promising careers would require a person to learn and solve complex problems at work. One of the biggest drawbacks of rote learning is insisting that there is no other solution. It makes one helpless to think about another solution. It creates a boundary for the thought process. And when the students face any difficult situation, they find that their confidence is already lost. In the long run, this stops the development of creative and logical thinking.

However, when a boundary is carved out around the imagination and thought process, it stops the development o divergent thinking, which leads to a lack of creativity and problem-solving skills.

It further kills the interest of students in the learning and pours down cold water on their curiosity and interests.

The majority of schools around the world follow bleak teaching and learning methods.

There are two important goals of learning. The first is retention, and the second is transfer. Retention evaluates the ability to remember, while the transfer is an ability to find a solution based on prior knowledge to solve problems. If these two goals are achieved, the learning technology can be considered right.

Teaching and learning should be developed so that it can encourage students to understand the idea, engage them with lessons, and prepare them for implementation. The teaching method in classrooms should be active and constructive. They should ensure the lessons imparted are useful, not only in examinations but also in daily life.

Meaningful learning improves creative, logical, and problem skills, which can help to remember, evaluate, and analyze different situations.

Several research studies have told us the importance of an insightful understanding of the conceptual.

The students don’t get real education when memorizing is considered as learning. Instead of developing them into a data storing machine, we require to develop curiosity in children
