IAS officer-cum-actor Abhishek Singh has launched a website and app for plasma donation as well as oxygen taxi services amid the COVID-19 crisis in the country.
The ‘United by Blood’ portal was launched a week ago with an aim to create a plasma repository by streamlining the process and establishing a hassle-free contact between donors and recipients in real time.
“The idea behind this initiative was to handle the information asymmetry. There are so many people who genuinely want to help, but are not able to connect with the recipients. The filtration of donors on a real-time basis and their location is the unique feature of this website, through which people can find plasma donors around their area,” 33-year-old Singh, who is the Deputy Commissioner in Delhi, told ThePrint.
“We don’t display numbers, so people first connect with each other on the basis of their requirement and can further share contacts if it matches,” he added.
Visitors can register as donors or patients across the country. The website helps them connect directly to their desired source without the intervention of any third party.
Donors are required to provide their contact details, location, and blood group, and they will be filtered by location, blood group, and date of recovery.
