Amid the raging second wave of coronavirus in India, IIT Kanpur has joined the nation in the fight against COVID-19. In this difficult time, many people are looking for verified information and resources that can help them in need.
People are scrambling for authentic information that can save the time and pave the way for quick working getting the required medical facilities and care.
To fill the information gap, the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre (SIIC) of Indian Institute of Kanpur (IIT) Kanpur has launched a website – https://indiacovidsupport.com/ – to provide authentic and verified leads.
Social media is a platform where people seek help during emergencies. Though these platforms are flooded with sources and information, but they lack authenticity.
Authentic and verified info
IIT Kanpur’s website will provide authentic and verified information and will also update the info in real time. The website was launched on Thursday and is up and running since with more than 1,100 verified entries. It is designed to provide authentic and verified leads on oxygen, plasma donors, medications, ICU beds and more. The website also allows people to upload leads.
IIT Kanpur Director Abhau Karandikar provided details of the platform in a series of tweets. He said the institution’s efforts are also supported by a team of more than 50 volunteers from non-IITK populations.
Through this platform, IIT Kanpur supports lakhs of people struggling to find authentic and real-time information in the current COVID-19 crisis.
