Karnataka Government Increases Scholarships for National Institutes!
Increased Scholarships: Great news for students in Karnataka! The state government has announced an increase in scholarship funds for SC and ST students attending prestigious national educational institutions such as IITs, IIMs, IISc, and NITs. The scholarship amount has seen a significant hike, moving from ₹1 lakh to a whopping ₹2 lakh!
In a bid to support students, particularly those from marginalized communities, the government has also introduced additional financial assistance. For SC/ST students who secure admission in MBBS seats under management quota—especially those who scored over 95% in their Pre-University Course (PUC) exams but couldn’t gain entry through government quotas—₹25 lakh will be provided as college fees from the government.
More Support for Medical Students
But wait, there's more! The government has also stipulated that if these students achieve over 60% in their first year of MBBS, they will be eligible for an additional ₹25 lakh in support. This initiative aims to ensure that students are not deprived of medical education due to financial constraints.
Many students who scored above 95% in their PUC and qualified for NEET but still struggled to pay college fees have expressed their concerns. They submitted pleas to the Social Welfare Minister and the Chief Minister, urging financial assistance for their education. Responding to these heartfelt appeals, the Karnataka government has taken this commendable step.
