Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani has advocated for the need to use AI responsibly, cautioning against over reliance on AI tool like Chat GPT. Speaking during the 12th convocation of Pandit Deendayal Energy University, where Ambani is its president, stated that AI indeed is a useful tool but could not replace the human brain for intelligence and independent thinking.

"You must be proficient in using AI for learning, but never at the cost of your own reasoning abilities. Use ChatGPT, but always remember that true progress comes from human intelligence, not artificial intelligence," Ambani told the graduating students.

The Importance of Lifelong Learning

Highlighting the rapid technological advancements shaping the world, Ambani stressed the importance of continuous learning, curiosity, and adaptability. He encouraged students to remain committed to lifelong education, as flexibility and innovation are key to success in an evolving global landscape.

Ambani also prophesied that India will be the world's wealthiest country by the end of this century. He, however cautioned that this growth must be balanced with environmental sustainability, ensuring long-term development without compromising natural resources.

Reliance's AI Investments and India's Digital Future

At a time when global competition in AI technology is getting tougher, Ambani has spoken about AI. China's AI model DeepSeek recently received much attention as it dethroned OpenAI, Google, and Meta. But now there are controversies surrounding DeepSeek due to data privacy policies; user data is said to be stored on Chinese servers.

Meanwhile, strategic AI moves of Reliance Industries are being pursued through the procurement of advanced semiconductor technology from AI chip manufacturer world leader NVIDIA. Reliance also is building a world's biggest data center at Jamnagar to enhance the capabilities of India in AI.

At the NVIDIA AI Summit in October 2024, Reliance announced its partnership with NVIDIA, integrating cutting-edge Blackwell AI processors into its upcoming one-gigawatt data center. While speaking on a panel, NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the importance of India manufacturing AI within itself, to which Ambani replied by identifying that India was already advanced in terms of digital infrastructure.

"Apart from the US and China, India has the best digital connectivity framework in the world," Ambani stated, reinforcing the nation's growing role in AI and digital transformation.

With AI reshaping industries worldwide, Ambani’s message serves as a reminder that while AI is an invaluable asset, human intelligence, adaptability, and ethical responsibility must remain at the core of technological progress.
