Recently held Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission’s Civil Service Examination – 2020 has given the list of 106 successful candidates. And, I have successfully secured 93rd rank and was awarded the post of Assistant Section Officer (ASO).
This time, the syllabus has been revised. Now it stands similar to the syllabus of the UPSC civil service examination. Along with it, the pattern of examination is also made similar to the UPSC CSE exam.
If we talk about Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission – Civil Service Examination briefly there are 3 stages of examination – Prelims, Mains and interview.
After the revised syllabus and exam pattern, now the APPSC-CSE exam will have 2 papers in the prelims stage. Here 1st paper will have General Studies and 2nd paper will have CSAT, which is basically reasoning, comprehension and general maths.
Exam Preparation and Syllabus
In the mains, there will be 8 papers. These include English papers as qualifying papers, essays, GS papers 1,2,3,4 and 2 papers for one optional subject.
This time, the commission has set a threshold level of 30% marks in each paper and aggregate 45% in all the papers of mains except English paper, as it was just qualifying in nature.
In my first attempt, I was not able to clear prelims also, but after a careful analysis of the prelims paper and studying accordingly, it helped me clear it in my second attempt.
Along with it for my mains, since I was very much familiar with the UPSC pattern, I could meet the requisite marks needed. I took sociology as my optional subject.
The interview was the most challenging segment for my preparation. The only way I could tackle this stage was due to my nature of questioning myself; I have a habit of questioning myself on any topic that I study. I believe students can easily tackle this segment if they question themselves and have curiosity about general facts.
From A student to An Officer
I have secured 843 marks in my mains and 187.37 marks in my interview making my total 1030.37 marks. The result was announced on 22nd October 2021 which was also the day of my interview. Yes, you read it right. The result was displayed on the evening of the last day of the interview. I was overwhelmed with the result.
Of course, there is always a scope for better performance but I was certainly very happy with my result. This time, 141 candidates appeared for the interview, which left 35 candidate disqualified.
In this cutthroat competition in today’s, success comes to those who are consistent, committed, smart working and has patience. Failure is a part of your journey, learn from it and you shall surely achieve success in your life.
