Schools in Mumbai to remain closed till Dec 30: BMC

COVID-19: Students in these states have been promoted without examination

Following the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in Mumbai, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), on November 20, 2020, ordered BMC schools to remain closed till December 31. However, the schools in other parts of Maharashtra can reopen from November 23 following all the preventive measures against the Covid-19.

“All schools in BMC jurisdiction to remain closed till 31st December. The decision has been taken in the wake of a rise in #COVID19 cases in Mumbai. Schools will not open on November 23rd,” Mumbai Mayor Kishori Pednekar was quoted as saying in a media report.

Earlier, the Maharashtra government has announced that the students from 9th to 12th class could attend their schools and junior colleges from November 23.

But the new decision on the opening of schools came after the Delhi government ordered all schools to remain closed.

In Maharashtra, the schools that will open from Monday for the 9th to 12th class are undergoing the sanitization process. The safety guidelines and SOPs will strictly be followed by these schools. As per the state education department, school teachers have to undergo RT-PCR tests.
