After remaining closed due to the COVID-19 for a long time, Schools for students from class 5 to 12 have been reopened on January 07, 2021, in Punjab.
The school authorities have promised to follow COVID-19 related guidelines while running the classes.
They said that they strictly adhered to COVID-19 safety guidelines and teachers ensured social distancing among the students.
Some of the schools distributed masks among the students. Students said that they were excited to meet their classmates, teachers, and friends in the school. The Government Girls Senior Secondary School, Talara saw happy students entering its premises.
School principal Suresh Kumari said a total of 625 out of 740 students attended school. Before opening the school, all benches were sanitized. The parents, who came to attend the parent-teacher meeting, looked happy over the reopening of schools.
Jasandeep Kaur, a Class 6 student, said she was overjoyed to have come to school after a long time and meet her teachers and classmates.
District Education Officer (Secondary) Harjit Singh and District Education Officer (Primary) Sanjiv Gautam said the attendance in schools was good.
“Today was the first day and most parents and students were not aware of the reopening of schools across Punjab,” District Education Officer Satinderbir Singh said.
