Uttarakhand to reopen schools for 6th to 12th classes

The Uttarakhand government has decided to reopen schools for 6th to 12th classes across the state. Schools will resume 6th to 12th classes from February 8, 2021, Madan Kaushik, the State Minister, said while informing about the decision taken in the cabinet meeting.

As a result of COVID-19 induced lockdowns and restrictions, the schools across the country remained closed for more than 10 months.

However, many states began reopening schools and other educational institutions voluntarily after new COVID-19 cases declined significantly across the country.

Moreover, CM Arvind Kejriwal led-Delhi government on January 28, 2021, announced to reopen institutes for 9th and 11th classes from February 5.

“Schools and colleges are being reopened so that students can prepare better for their practicals and internal assessments. It is important to provide support and guidance to the students for them to prepare well for the exams,” Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister of the state said. Earlier, Delhi had allowed actual class 10th and 12th students.
