The 1998 film Bade Miyan Chote Miyan remains a fan favorite even after 26 years of its release. Directed by David Dhawan and produced by Vashu Bhagnani, this Bollywood blockbuster brought together a star-studded cast, including Amitabh Bachchan, Govinda, Raveena Tandon, Anupam Kher, and Paresh Rawal, with a cameo by Madhuri Dixit.

Upon its release, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan set the box office ablaze, earning Rs 6.28 crore in its first week alone and going on to collect Rs 19.05 crore in India and Rs 35.14 crore worldwide. The movie, made on a budget of Rs 10 crore, was loved for its mix of comedy, action, and unforgettable songs. It ran for nine weeks in theaters and became one of the highest-grossing films of the year, making its producers a handsome profit.

A Flop Sequel in 2024

In 2024, the much-anticipated sequel, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan 2, was released. However, unlike its predecessor, it turned out to be a box-office failure. Made on a massive budget of Rs 350 crore, the sequel earned only Rs 102.16 crore and failed to recapture the magic of the original, despite receiving some praise for its storyline.
