2024 MTV VMAs: Jungkook and Lisa Lead K-Pop Nominations

Numerous K-pop celebrities are among the nominees for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), which have been announced. September 10 at 8 p.m. Eastern time is when the awards show will stream live. K-pop performers have performed admirably in a number of categories this year.

The youngest member of BTS, Jungkook, has been nominated twice for his solo debut song, "Seven," which features Latto. He's up for nomination in two categories: Best Collaboration and Best K-Pop. Lisa from BLACKPINK is nominated four times for her solo song "ROCKSTAR." She is vying for Best Art Direction, Best Editing, Best Choreography, and Best K-Pop. 

Other K-Pop Artists in the Running

There are more K-pop musicians nominated for the Best K-Pop category, in addition to Lisa and Jungkook. These include the songs "Deja Vu" by TXT, "Super Shy" by NewJeans, "LALALALA" by Stray Kids, and "Smoothie" by NCT DREAM. With their song "EASY," LE SSERAFIM has also received their first-ever VMA nomination for Push Performance of the Year. 

Away from K-pop, Taylor Swift is the most nominated artist overall with ten, eight of them come from her "Fortnight" music video. She is also a nominee for Best Pop and Artist of the Year. Post Malone, her "Fortnight" partner, is next in line with nine nominations. Along with Ariana Grande, Bad Bunny, Eminem, Sabrina Carpenter, and SZA, there are other nominees for Artist of the Year. All of these artists have received several nominations: Megan Thee Stallion and SZA have received five nominations each, while Ariana, Sabrina, and Eminem are tied with six.

Exciting Newcomers and First-Time Nominees

There are 29 first-time nominations in this year's VMAs, which makes them noteworthy. Novelistas such as Tyla, Benson Boone, Teddy Swims, Sabrina Carpenter, Morgan Wallen, and Teddy Swims have all been nominated more than once. Gracie Abrams, Coco Jones, Chappell Roan, and other newcomers are among the other nominees.

The Long Island UBS Arena in New York will host the 2024 MTV VMAs. Fan voting for 15 gender-neutral categories has started and will run until August 30. During the September 10 live broadcast, there will be opportunities to vote for the Best New Artist category.
