Legendary actor Sameer Khakhar, widely known for his work on TV series including “Nukkad” and “Circus,” died on Wednesday morning at a hospital in this city from organ failure, according to his younger brother Ganesh Khakhar. He was 71.
According to Ganesh, Sameer Khakhar had breathing troubles and was sent to the MM Hospital in the suburban Mumbai neighbourhood of Borivali on Tuesday morning.
He experienced breathing issues starting yesterday, and then he fell unconscious. We phoned the doctor at home, and he advised us to take him to the hospital.
“He was brought in to MM Hospital’s intensive care unit. He lost several organs progressively, was unconscious, and ultimately succumbed to his injuries. He died this morning at 4.30 am “On Wednesday, said Ganesh Khakhar.
Among Sameer Khakhar’s significant productions include the TV series “Shrimaan Shrimati,” the movies “Parinda,” “Jai Ho,” “Hasee Toh Phasee,” the Sudhir Mishra-directed “Serious Men,” and the web series “Sunflower” with Vikas Bahl.
Perhaps his most enduring performance was as Khopdi in the venerable TV drama “Nukkad”. His wife is the only survivor of Sameer Khakhar. At a crematorium in Borivali, the funeral services will start at 10.30 am.
