Baekhyun’s Shocking Stories of Sasaeng Fans: The Dark Side of 13 Years in EXO

Baekhyun, a popular member of the K-pop group EXO, recently appeared on the YouTube channel "Neighborhood Star K" in a video titled "EXO Baekhyun Does Everything He’s Asked to Do (ft. EXO Sasaeng Stories, 50 Million KRW Reverse Fan Service, Doctor’s Gown)."

During the video, Baekhyun opened up about his experiences with sasaengs—obsessive fans who invade the privacy of celebrities—and reflected on his 13-year journey as an idol. Host Jonathan also reminisced about EXO’s peak popularity and how many fans used to call themselves "Baekhyun's wife." Baekhyun expressed his sadness, saying, “I’m really sad that I never got to see or experience that myself.”

He said, “I’ve had a lot of phone calls with sasaengs. When I was feeling sensitive, I’d get constant calls, and it drove me crazy. I’d answer, and they’d say strange things. So, I’d tell them, ‘Get a grip, and wash your face.’”

Even with good security, sasaeng fans managed to invade Baekhyun’s privacy. He recalled one incident where he noticed someone suspicious in his underground parking lot. When he confronted them, their friends appeared from between cars, surprising him. He humorously described the situation as though they were coming out "like Avengers," shocking the audience.

Baekhyun Reflects on His Idol Career

Jonathan, the host, mentioned seeing Baekhyun on billboards for Pepero, cosmetics, and school uniforms, expressing his pride at interviewing him now. He asked Baekhyun about his 13 years as an idol, and Baekhyun responded, “I’ve been through a lot.”

Jonathan noted how calmly Baekhyun discussed the difficult situations he faced, commenting, “The way you’re talking about it so calmly shows how much you’ve been through.” Baekhyun agreed, sharing that he has “a lot of war stories” from his time in the K-pop industry.
