Disappointment Over Jab We Met Replacement
In an interview with RJ Siddharth Kannan, Bhumika shared her feelings about being replaced by Kareena Kapoor Khan in Jab We Met, a film directed by Imtiaz Ali. She recalled, "The only time I felt bad was when I signed Jab We Met and it didn’t happen." Bhumika initially signed on for the film when it was called Train, and she was excited to work alongside Shahid Kapoor. However, the casting changed multiple times before Kareena ultimately took on the role.
Bhumika stated, "I was the first one, Bobby (Deol) and I were attached to it, then it became Shahid and me, then Shahid and Ayesha (Takia), and finally Shahid and Kareena." Despite her disappointment, she expressed a mature outlook, saying, "It’s okay. I only felt bad once and then never again because I just moved on."
Losing Munna Bhai MBBS and Other Opportunities
Bhumika also discussed her near-casting in the beloved film Munna Bhai MBBS, revealing, "I had signed up for Munna Bhai MBBS, but it didn’t happen." She mentioned that her participation in another film directed by Mani Ratnam, Kannathil Muthamittal, also fell through.
In a conversation with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, Bhumika learned that her replacement was not due to any shortcomings on her part. She acknowledged that such decisions are common in the entertainment industry, often arising for various reasons.
