Diwali is a special occasion and filmmakers often choose this auspicious day to release their films. There have been major box office clashes on Diwali in the past. But this year, only one big budget Bollywood movie titled Sooryavanshi is releasing on Diwali.
The film stars Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles. Meanwhile, Rajinikanth’s south movie Annaatthe is also going to be released on November 4. As most of the movies released on Diwali in the past have successfully managed to enter the 100-crore club, we will have to wait to see whether Sooryavanshi hits this mark or not.

Bollywood Diwali releases
Happy New Year
Farah Khan directed Happy New Year was a multi-starrer movie and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Abhishek Bachchan, Boman Irani and Jackie Shroff in key roles. Released on October 24, 2014, the film garnered Rs 408 crore at the Box Office.
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo
Prem Ratan Dhan Payo starred Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor in the lead roles and was a romantic film. Sooraj Barjatiya-directed movie was released on November 12, 2015 and it minted Rs 388 crore.
Golmaal Again
Rohit Shetty directed film Golmaal Again starred Ajay Devgn, Shreyas Talpade, Parineeti Chopra, Tabu, Kunal Khemmu in pivotal roles. The film was released on October 20, 2017. The horror-action comedy broke many records at the Box office and managed to collect around Rs 205.69 crore.
Jab Tak Hai Jaan
We saw three big stars of Bollywood – Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma – creating their magic in Yash Chopra’s romantic film Jab Tak Hai Jaan. Released on November 13, 2012, the film earned Rs 211 crore at the Box Office.
Son of Sardaar
Ashwni Dhir-directed film Son of Sardaar starred Ajay Devgn, Sonakshi Sinha and Sanjay Dutt in roles. The action comedy flick hit the theaters on November 13, 2012 and managed to garner Rs 161 crore at the box office.
