Boycott Malabar Gold is trending on Twitter. The jewelery brand roped in Kareena Kapoor Khan for an ad.
Now, some sections of a particular community are accusing Malabar Gold and Diamonds of allegedly hurting their sentiments with their new ad on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
A section of netizens took offence to the new Akshaya Ttitya ad released by Malabar Gold featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan.
The ad shows the actress all decked up in traditional attire and elaborate jewellery but without a bindi.
This led to protests and boycott calls against Malabar Gold and Kareena Kapoor Khan who has ‘married a Muslim’ and why she was being featured in this ad.
Social media users pointed out that for a married woman it is mandatory to wear a bindi at festivals.

Earlier in 2020, Tanishq had to withdraw an ad on interfaith marriage.
Later on, the same brand also faced backlash for a Diwali ad for showing cracker-free celebrations.
