Comedian Sunil Pal Goes Missing, Wife Files Complaint: Here's What Happened

Comedian Sunil Pal sparked concern on Tuesday when he went missing for several hours, leaving his wife, Sarita Pal, worried and anxious. According to reports from India Today, Sarita Pal filed a missing person complaint at the Santacruz Police Station after her repeated attempts to contact her husband went unanswered.

Sunil Pal’s Disappearance and the Initial Search

Sunil Pal had traveled outside Mumbai to perform for a show, and he had informed his wife that he would return home on Tuesday, December 3. However, when he failed to come back and could not be reached despite numerous calls, Sarita decided to take action. In response, she lodged a missing person complaint with the police.

Later in the evening, Sunil Pal finally reached out to his family, informing them that he was safe. He reassured them that he would be returning home late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning. Following his call, Sarita Pal confirmed to the media that she had spoken to her husband and that he had also been in touch with the police.

While Sunil Pal’s wife chose not to pursue a formal police complaint after hearing from him, the Santacruz Police indicated that they would still inquire about his whereabouts during the day upon his return. The police will likely ask Sunil for details regarding his absence.

Sunil Pal first gained widespread recognition after participating in The Great Indian Laughter Challenge in 2005, where he emerged victorious. His success on the show paved the way for small supporting roles in Bollywood films like Hum Tum (2004) and Phir Hera Pheri (2006).

Over the years, Sunil Pal has been involved in a few controversies. In 2017, he publicly accused renowned Bollywood director Anees Bazmee of refusing to pay him for a performance. Pal claimed that producers often delay payments, but he was particularly upset with Bazmee’s behavior, considering his substantial earnings.

In 2021, Sunil faced backlash for making controversial remarks about doctors working during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Association of Medical Consultants (Mumbai) filed a complaint against him, accusing him of making "derogatory and obnoxious" comments, which led to an investigation by the Andheri police.
