Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who was recently granted bail in the high-profile Renukaswamy murder case, has finally spoken out. The 47-year-old actor released his first video after his legal battle, expressing heartfelt gratitude to his fans for their support. However, he made a special request asking them not to gather outside his home on February 16, his birthday, due to ongoing health concerns.
Darshan was arrested on June 11, 2024, in connection with the murder of Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old auto driver. Reports suggested that the case was linked to inappropriate messages sent to Darshan’s close friend and actor Pavithra Gowda. After spending several months in judicial custody, Darshan, Pavithra, and other accused individuals were granted bail by the High Court on December 13, 2024.

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Darshan acknowledged the unwavering support of his fans. He said, “I would like to thank all my beloved celebrities (fans) for their love and support. Your affection means everything to me. I don’t know how to return it.”

I need to undergo an operation,” he said, urging fans to understand his situation and avoid gathering outside his residence.
Darshan’s Commitment to Film Industry Despite Controversy
Along with addressing fans, Darshan also extended his gratitude to the producers who waited for him. “I should not do injustice to them. They had planned projects, and I’m trying to push myself to return,” he stated, highlighting his dedication to resuming his career.
The legal case surrounding Darshan made headlines in June 2024 when he, Pavithra Gowda, and 11 others were arrested for their alleged role in Renukaswamy’s murder. His body was found dumped in a drain in Kamakshipalya, Bengaluru. The case is still ongoing, but Darshan’s bail has given him the chance to focus on his health and career.
