Deepika Padukone celebrates 5 years of Bajirao Mastani, shares throwback pics

Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh have worked together in a lot of movies but one of the most loved is Bajirao Mastani. Known for its sheer brilliance, Bajirao Mastani completed its five years on Friday. To mark the fifth anniversary of the movie, lead actors Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh shared some of the unseen pictures from the sets of Bajirao Mastani.

Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the epic historical romance garnered massive appreciatiosn for Deepika-Ranveer’s stellar performaces on screen. The Priyanka Jonas co-starrer Bajirao Mastani went on to become one of the biggest hits on  box office.

What did Deepika Padukone share?

In the post, the actress lauded the spirit of her character Mastani and how she stood out. She wrote, “Whether in love or war, Mastani was fuelled by her passion, unafraid to write her own destiny, no matter how perilous the path. She never bowed down and always stood her ground with a fierce dignity and a love so strong that its burning embers seared through every societal constraint, to join both her and her lover’s names, for all of eternity.”

Along with sharing some of the throwback pictures, Deepika Padukone even went on to change her name on social media profiles. Deepika Padukone also changes her profie picture and changed it to that of Mastani’s.
Meanwhile, Ranveer Singh  who played the role of Peshwa Bajirao, also celebrated five years of the film. He shared clips from Bajirao Mastani as his Instagram story.

Know about Bajirao Mastani

Bajirao Mastani tells the tale of Peshwa Bajirao (Ranveer), who falls in love with a warrior princess Mastani (Deepika) despite being married to Kashibai (Priyanka). Bajirao and Mastani struggle to make their love triumph amid opposition from his conservative family.

The film won seven National Film Awards, including Best Direction and Best supoorting actress for Tanvi Azami. The film received a leading fourteen nominations at the 61st Filmfare Awards and won nine awards, including Best Film, Best director, for Bhansali, best actor for Ranveer Singh, and best supporting actress for Priyanka Chopra.
