Kangana Ranaut's upcoming political drama Emergency has sparked controversy due to its sensitive subject matter. The film, which is based on the life of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, has hit a roadblock with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), despite initially receiving clearance.

In a recent video posted on her social media accounts, Kangana revealed that her directorial debut has yet to receive final certification from the CBFC. She addressed the issue, saying, "There are rumors that our film Emergency has been certified by the Censor Board. This is not true. While our film did receive clearance, the certification has been delayed due to numerous death threats against members of the censor board."

Controversial Content and Pressure on the Filmmakers

Kangana further explained the pressure to alter or remove key scenes from the film. She said, "We are being pressured not to depict Mrs. Gandhi's assassination, Bhindranwale, and the Punjab riots. This raises the question—what can I actually show in the film? Should it suddenly blackout?"

The actress expressed her frustration and disbelief over the situation, stating, "This is an unbelievable time for me, and I am very sorry for the state of things in this country."

Star-Studded Cast Adds to the Buzz

Aside from Kangana, Emergency boasts a star-studded cast, including Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles. The film's delay has only added to the growing anticipation and controversy surrounding its release.

Kangana's candid revelations have sparked discussions about censorship, creative freedom, and the challenges of making politically sensitive films in India. As fans await the final decision from the CBFC, the future of Emergency remains uncertain.
