They have to continuously churn our new twists and turns to keep the viewers engaged. In this special segment, we will talk about the Hindi TV shows which have completed over 2000 episodes.
Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai
Shivangi Joshi and Mohsin Khan starrer ‘Yeh Rishta’ is the longest running show on Indian television in terms of episodes. ‘YRKKH’, which was launched in January 2009, became the first Hindi daily soap to successfully complete over 3000 episodes. The makers of the show hosted a party in September 2019 to celebrate the milestone. For the uninitiated, the show originally featured Hina Khan and Karan Mehra in lead roles. ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ has completed 3248 episodes till date and is still running successfully on Star Plus.
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah
‘TMKOC’ has managed to tickle the funny bones of the viewers with its comedic episodes. Despite completing over 12 years, the popular sitcom has remained a fan-favourite. Disha Vakani, who plays the role of Dayaben, has been missing since September 2017. Although, her absence has made the fans upset, the TRPs of the show didn’t get much affected. ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ has completed 3031 episodes till date. The show airs on Sony SAB.
Balika Vadhu
It won’t be wrong to say that ‘Balika Vadhu’ started the trend of social dramas on Indian television in 2008. After the launch of ‘Balika Vadhu’, several shows based on social issues were launched on rival channels. The Toral Rasputra and Sidharth Shukla starrer became the first Hindi daily soap to complete 2000 episodes. It focused on the evil practice of child marriages and revolved around the life of lead protagonist Anandi. The second season couldn’t fare well and was pulled off within few months. ‘Balika Vadhu’ ended with 2245 episodes to its credit.
Saath Nibhaana Saathiya Season One
The first season of ‘Saathiya’ ended on July 23, 2017 after completing 2184 episodes. The show redefined viewership at early evening time slot by setting the TRP charts on fire. The show, which aired at 7pm slot, starred Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Mohammad Nazim and Rupal Patel in key roles. ‘Saath Nibhaana Saathiya 2’ was launched on Star Plus last month at a prime time slot. It remains to be seen if the new season will be able to perform as per expectations or not.
Sasural Simar Ka
Dipika Kakar starrer ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ might have received flak for its content but the show grabbed several eyeballs after introducing the supernatural track. The show ended on March 2, 2018 after completing 2063 episodes. Keerti Kelkar stepped into Dipika Kakar’s shoes and played the new Simar after the latter quit the show in 2017.
