Nawazuddin Siddiqui was born in Budhana and raised in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh. He worked as a chemist in Vadodara before travelling to Delhi in search of a job.
Nawaz bhai enrolled himself in the National School of Drama in New Delhi to pursue his dream of acting. He graduated in 1999.
In his initial days in Bollywood, he played an extra in many films such as Sarfarosh, Shool, Jungle, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Munna Bhai MBBS.
In 2011, his career reached a turning point when his role in Kahaani garned appreciation for a brilliant performance. In 2012, he featured in Gangs Of Wasseypur for which he received a special mention at the 60th National Film Awards for his portrayal of a desi gangster.
Since then, Nawazuddin has been seen in many memorable roles in box office hits such as Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kick, Badlapur, Petta, etc. He also played the protagonist in films such as Thackeray, Manto, Babumoshai Bandookbaaz, Manjhi – The Mountain Man, Freaky Ali, Photograph, Haraamkhor and Motichoor Chaknachoor.
