During the filming of Rowdy Rathore in 2012, Prabhu Deva, who directed the film, was working on the song "Chinta Ta Chita." Thalapathy Vijay, who was in Mumbai shooting for his own film Thuppaki, received a phone call from Prabhu Deva. The director asked Vijay if he could make a guest appearance in the song. To his surprise, Vijay immediately agreed. Prabhu Deva appreciated Vijay's friendly nature, calling him a "sweet person" for agreeing to do the cameo without hesitation.
