Bollywood actress and Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut has announced the revised release date for her much-anticipated film, Emergency. Initially postponed, the film is now set to hit theaters on January 17, 2025. Based on the life of former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, the movie sees Kangana portraying the powerful leader herself.
Kangana Ranaut Shares Excitement
Announcing the date on X (formerly Twitter), Kangana wrote,
"January 17, 2025 – The epic saga of the most powerful woman in India and the moment that changed the fate of our nation. Emergency – coming only to cinemas."
Her words reflect a mix of pride and determination, setting the tone for what could be one of the most impactful films of the year.The journey to the big screen hasn’t been easy for Emergency. The film faced significant delays in obtaining its censor certificate. However, last month, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) finally cleared it, paving the way for its release.
In addition to playing the lead role, Kangana Ranaut has directed, written, and co-produced the film, showcasing her multifaceted talent.
Shreyas Talpade, who plays the role of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in the movie, shared his thoughts in a recent interview.
"As an actor, it’s disappointing when a film faces delays, especially after receiving the censor board’s approval. Audiences are waiting, and we’re eager to release it. But sometimes, these delays are beyond our control," he said.
He added, "Now that we have the final green light, I’m thrilled. As an actor, there’s no greater joy than seeing your hard work reach the audience."
