Delhi-based Nazia Nasim became the first contestant to win Rs 1 crore in ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 12’. The episodes featuring Nazia created a lot of buzz on social media as she emerged as the first crorepati of the season. Viewers were quite excited to know if she manages to the answer the Rs 7 crore question correctly or not. Although, she quit the game at the last stage, Nazia managed to take home a hefty amount and Diwali gift hamper.
Host Amitabh Bachchan praised Nasim’s knowledge and determination during the episode and said that she answered the questions with ease. Nazia got emotional after Big B told her that she created history by becoming the first contestant to claim Rs 1 crore in the new season of ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.
In her jackpot question Nazia was asked, “Where in Singapore did Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose make the first proclamation of an Azad Hind government?”
The options were Cathay Cinema Hall, Fort Canning Park, National University of Singapore and National Gallery of Singapore.
Niaza didn’t know the answer and hence, she quit the show. In case you are thinking about the correct answer is, it is Cathay Cinema Hall.
Who is Nazia Nasim?
Nasim, who is originally from Jharkhand’s Ranchi, currently works as a communication manager for Royal Enfield in Delhi. She moved to the national capital in 2004 to complete PG diploma in advertising and PR from Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC). She tied the knot in 2008. Nazia and her husband are parents to a ten-year-old son, who is quite passionate about soccer.
Nazia has mentioned her mother in her interviews and said that she inspired her to participate in the quiz-based show.
In her Rs 1 crore question, Nazia was originally asked -“Who is the first woman and also former astronaut to reach the deepest point of the ocean, Mariana trench?” The correct answer was Kathryn D Sullivan.
However, Nazia was unaware of the answer and she opted for ‘Flip the question’ lifeline. She was then asked, “Which of these actresses once won a National Film Award for best female playback singer?” She answered the question correctly- Roopa Ganguly. Interestingly, Nazia didn’t use any lifeline till the 11th question. Fans commended her for the same on social media.
‘Kaun Banega Crorepati 12’ airs on weekdays on Sony TV.
