ADOR Announces Plans to Renew Hanni's Visa: What's Next?

According to media reports on December 20 KST, Hanni, a member of the popular K-pop group NewJeans, is approaching the expiration of her E-6 (Entertainment and Culture) Visa. This visa is essential for foreigners engaging in entertainment activities in South Korea for profit and comes with specific requirements.

Understanding the E-6 Visa Requirements

The E-6 Visa is issued to individuals employed in entertainment and cultural activities in South Korea. To qualify, applicants must meet the following conditions:

  • Hold an exclusive contract with a legally registered entertainment company.

  • Provide identity verification signed by their employer.

  • Submit a letter of recommendation for employment.

These requirements ensure compliance with South Korea’s immigration and labor regulations, which safeguard both the industry and its participants.

Concerns Over Hanni’s Visa

Speculation arose after discussions about Hanni’s contract status. Reports suggested that if her exclusive contract with ADOR had been terminated on November 28 KST, it could affect her visa eligibility. In such cases, foreign entertainers must either switch to a different visa category or sign a new contract within 15 days to avoid legal complications, including potential departure orders.

ADOR Confirms Contract Validity and Visa Renewal

In response to the concerns, ADOR, the agency representing NewJeans, reassured fans and media. A representative stated, “ADOR’s exclusive contract with NewJeans remains valid. Therefore, we are currently preparing the necessary documents to renew Hanni’s visa.” This confirmation eased worries about Hanni’s status in South Korea and her continued activities with the group.

Typically, E-6 Visas are granted for one year, requiring annual renewal by the employing entertainment company. Sources indicate that Hanni’s current visa is set to expire in early 2025, giving ample time for the renewal process to be completed.

As fans eagerly await updates, ADOR’s proactive measures highlight the importance of legal compliance in ensuring the smooth operations of the K-pop industry and the well-being of its international stars.
