SBS K-Drama The Haunted Palace Premieres Strong – Find Out if It’s Really a Must-Watch!

SBS's latest Friday-Saturday K-Drama, The Haunted Palace, has kicked off with a bang, surprising many with its higher-than-expected viewership ratings for its premiere episode. The show, which blends fantasy, romance, and comedy, has captured the attention of audiences right from the start.

The Haunted Palace Gains Strong Viewership in Its Premiere Episode

According to Nielsen Korea, the first episode of The Haunted Palace, which aired on April 18, recorded a nationwide rating of 9.2%. This marks a significant increase from the debut rating of 6.1% for its predecessor, Buried Hearts. The previous series ended with a high note, peaking at 15.4%, and some of that momentum seems to have carried over to give The Haunted Palace a solid start.

What Makes The Haunted Palace Stand Out?

The Haunted Palace tells a unique and intriguing story. It follows Yeori, played by Kim Ji Yeon, a shaman who refuses to accept her supernatural destiny. She becomes entangled with Kang Cheol Yi, played by Yook Sung Jae, who is an Imoogi — an ancient serpent-like spirit from Korean mythology. The Imoogi ends up trapped in the body of Yeori’s first love, Yoon Gap. As they confront a powerful spirit with a deep grudge against the royal family, the characters’ fates intertwine in dramatic and unexpected ways.

With its strong opening ratings and an intriguing storyline, The Haunted Palace is already attracting attention from both viewers and critics alike. While it remains to be seen whether the drama can maintain or build on its initial momentum, the early response suggests that this series could be one worth following.
