Kunal Kamra Roasts Anand Mahindra Over 'Lemons' Tweet and AI Talks

Kunal Kamra is in the limelight once again. After the backlash for what he said about Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, he became famous overnight for cracking jokes about Anand Mahindra. This particular show involves quite a bit of sharp humour regarding Mahindra's tweets and public persona, thus igniting another round of discussion online.

In a viral video cut, Kamra commented on Anand Mahindra's hyperactive tweeting, saying, "Anand Mahindra bhi buddha hai (Anand Mahindra is also old). He tweets about everything- thermodynamics, marine biology, radioactivity- never about how to make his cars better."

Kamal Prods Mahindra About the AI Conference and His Optimism Regarding Floods
Kunal Kamra didn’t let that rest. He soon took a jab at Anand Mahindra for his interest in AI conferences. Kamra suggested that Mahindra was attending those conferences of his own free will but with an utterly misunderstood sense of sarcasm, which went better with the audience. Then it went on to trigger reactions back online.

He went on to say about a past tweet by Mahindra during the Mumbai floods, where Mahindra tweeted a video of kids playing on a stranded double-decker bus with the caption "When life gives you lemons..." Kamra said that such optimism felt misplaced in a serious situation.

Recent Controversy Involving Eknath Shinde Adds to Spotlight

The performance of Kamra which was staged at the Habitat Comedy Club, Khar, Mumbai, contained some content directed against Eknath Shinde which resulted in a political uproar. BJP leader Pravin Darekar filed a breach of privilege notice against Kamra for making personal and taunting comments against the Deputy CM.

These allegations did not stop with legal notices. Months after the performance of a parody song on 3 January, the video resurfaced, leading to vandalism. Supporters of the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) had reportedly attacked the comedy venue and that of the hotel which hosted the event.
The political chasm was obvious. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis wanted a public apology from Kamra and opposition leader Uddhav Thackeray stood with the comedian's right to exercise freedom of expression.

Stubborn as ever, Kamra posted a photograph on Sunday night showing him grasping the Indian Constitution, captioned, "The only way forward...." It by mistake signaged the championism for free speech and democratic values.
