Lawrence Bishnoi’s Cousin Says Salman Khan Offered a Chequebook: 'If We Were Hungry for Money...'
Lawrence Bishnoi’s cousin reveals that Salman Khan allegedly offered a chequebook to resolve the blackbuck case, but the Bishnoi community rejected the offer.
Ramesh Bishnoi, cousin of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has made a public statement regarding the ongoing blackbuck controversy involving Bollywood superstar Salman Khan. Speaking in an interview with NDTV, Ramesh addressed the situation, shedding light on how the Bishnoi community feels about the blackbuck case and its connection to their cultural and religious values.
In the interview, Ramesh Bishnoi demanded a public apology from Salman Khan for his involvement in the blackbuck hunting case. The Bishnoi community, known for its deep love for wildlife and nature, holds blackbucks in high regard, as the animal is considered sacred. According to Ramesh, Salman Khan’s actions in 1998 during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain deeply hurt the community’s religious sentiments.
He also claimed that the Bishnoi community’s ancestors sacrificed their lives to protect trees and wildlife, and the killing of a blackbuck ignited anger among them. "When Salman Khan killed the blackbuck, every Bishnoi's blood was boiling," Ramesh stated, expressing the intense emotions the incident triggered within their community.
Clarifying Accusations Against Lawrence Bishnoi
Ramesh Bishnoi went on to defend his cousin, Lawrence Bishnoi, against accusations of seeking financial gain through this controversy. He revealed that Salman Khan allegedly presented a chequebook to the community, offering them to name a sum in an attempt to resolve the issue. Ramesh firmly rejected claims that Lawrence’s actions were financially motivated, stating, "If we were hungry for money, we would have taken it at that time."
He also denied Lawrence’s involvement in other crimes, including the Baba Siddique murder case and extortion activities. According to Ramesh, the Bishnoi family owns 110 acres of land and has no need to demand ransom or extort money. He believes that people are exploiting Lawrence’s name for their own gain, painting an incorrect picture of his cousin’s actions and intentions.

The Bishnoi Community’s Stance
The Bishnoi community’s frustration goes beyond the legal aspects of the case. Ramesh highlighted how deeply connected they are to wildlife and nature, stating that the community has relied on the court’s judgment regarding the blackbuck case. However, he warned that if their religious sentiments continue to be disrespected, they would not stay silent. "Today, the entire Bishnoi community stands with Lawrence in this matter," Ramesh emphasized, showing solidarity with his cousin and the community’s stance on the issue.
Salman Khan was accused of hunting a blackbuck during the filming of Hum Saath Saath Hain in Jodhpur in 1998, an act that deeply hurt the Bishnoi community. In 2018, he was found guilty by the Rajasthan High Court and sentenced to five years in jail. The actor later challenged the verdict in the Supreme Court and was granted bail, though the case remains a topic of controversy.
The blackbuck case has not only affected Salman Khan’s career but has also highlighted the Bishnoi community’s devotion to wildlife conservation. Ramesh Bishnoi’s recent comments bring renewed attention to the matter, showing that the controversy continues to stir emotions within the community. As the legal battle unfolds, the Bishnoi community remains determined to seek justice for what they view as a deep violation of their values.
