The 1990s was a golden era for Bollywood, filled with exceptional talent and glamour. Actresses like Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi defined the industry with their grace, performances, and star power. Despite being two of the most iconic stars of their time, they were often compared and rumored to have a rivalry. However, in a recent interview, Madhuri Dixit candidly shared her admiration and respect for Sridevi, shedding light on their unique bond.

Madhuri Dixit on Her Respect for Sridevi

In an interview with News18, Madhuri Dixit spoke about her relationship with Sridevi and how their paths rarely crossed in their professional journeys.

“We never worked together. There was one movie that we did long back, but even then, we didn’t have any scenes together. We had different scenarios going for us in terms of our careers. Our paths never really crossed in that sense. But, of course, we both had a lot of respect and admiration for each other. I respected her as an actor because she worked in different languages – which was amazing – and she was successful across them. She was also very sweet to me,” Madhuri said.
The two legends were cast together in Ramesh Sippy’s Zameen (1987), a project that never made it to the big screens. Years later, they reunited for Boney Kapoor’s Pukaar in 2000, where Sridevi served as the producer. Despite being part of the same film, they barely interacted.

Madhuri shared, “Pukaar was Boney ji’s production. She was the producer of that film. There was not much interaction between us because she was doing her own thing, and I was doing mine. We didn’t really get to talk much.”

Madhuri also recalled a rare interaction after the release of Pukaar. “After we completed Pukaar and it was released, I got married and moved to the US. That’s why there wasn’t much interaction. She entered the industry before I did and had been working since she was a little kid. She worked really hard to be where she was, and I truly respected that,” Madhuri said.

The Legacy of Two Icons

Both Madhuri Dixit and Sridevi remain unmatched in their contributions to Indian cinema. While Sridevi broke barriers by working across multiple industries and delivering timeless hits, Madhuri carved her own niche with unforgettable performances.

Madhuri Dixit was last seen in the blockbuster Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which starred Kartik Aaryan, Tripti Dimri, and Vidya Balan. The movie was a box office success, cementing Madhuri’s place as an evergreen star of Bollywood.
