Why ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ Might Flop—The One Mistake That Could Cost Big

The much-awaited Bollywood comedy-drama Mere Husband Ki Biwi has finally hit theaters today, February 21. Directed by Mudassar Aziz, the film revolves around an intriguing love triangle featuring an ex-wife, her husband, and the husband's girlfriend. Despite the engaging storyline, the film’s pre-release buzz has not been promising. With low pre-sales, box office expectations for Mere Husband Ki Biwi remain uncertain.

Ahead of its release, discussions about the film’s potential earnings have been making rounds. One major reason for this speculation is its poor pre-sale performance, with only 5,000 tickets sold in advance. This disappointing start has raised concerns about the film’s overall performance at the box office.

Another factor affecting audience anticipation is the star cast. Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar’s previous collaboration, The Lady Killer (2023), was a major failure, leaving fans skeptical about their on-screen chemistry.

‘The Lady Killer’ – A Box Office Disaster That OTT Platforms Rejected

The Lady Killer was a romantic thriller directed by Ajay Bahl. Despite its big-screen release, the film struggled to make an impact at the box office. According to reports from Bollywood Hungama, the movie was made on a budget of ₹45 crore but managed to earn only ₹1 lakh, marking it as a massive commercial disaster.

The situation worsened when the makers attempted to sell the film to OTT platforms, but none showed interest. Eventually, it was released for free on T-Series’ YouTube channel, highlighting the film’s failure to attract even digital viewers.

Was ‘The Lady Killer’ an Incomplete Film?

Following its release, reports suggested that The Lady Killer was not fully completed before it hit the screens. The film's director admitted in interviews that the project was rushed due to a contractual obligation with Netflix, which required the film to be released by December. Due to this hurried production, about 30 pages of the 117-page script were never shot. This lack of completion, along with poor promotion, contributed to its disastrous performance.

Despite these setbacks, the film’s director defended the efforts of both lead actors, stating that they delivered strong performances even in difficult circumstances. However, the film’s failure left a lasting impact on their careers.

Will ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ Change the Game?

With Mere Husband Ki Biwi, Arjun Kapoor and Bhumi Pednekar have a chance to redeem themselves. However, given their previous box office track record and the film’s weak pre-release response, it remains uncertain whether this comedy-drama will be able to pull in audiences.

As the first-day collections roll in, all eyes are on whether Mere Husband Ki Biwi will manage to perform better than expected or face the same fate as its predecessor. Stay tuned for box office updates!
