Google’s 2024 Search Trends: Bollywood Films and Mukesh Ambani’s Wedding Top Pakistan’s List
Pakistani Google searches in 2024 reveal a fascination for Indian movies and Mukesh Ambani’s grand wedding, showcasing the growing interest in Bollywood and Indian events.

Google has recently released its list of most-searched events, topics, and personalities by Pakistanis for the year 2024. The list, categorized into six segments—cricket, people, movies, drama, how-to, recipes, and tech—reveals a clear trend: Indian content continues to be a major favorite among Pakistani internet users.
Indian Movies and Dramas Shine in Pakistan
In the movies and dramas category, Indian content took the lead, with the top 10 searches featuring a variety of popular Indian films and series. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s highly anticipated Heeramandi topped the list, followed by other hits like 12th Fail, starring Vikrant Massey, and Ranbir Kapoor’s action-packed Animal. Indian films such as Stree 2, Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, and Dunki, starring Shah Rukh Khan, also made it to the top 10, showcasing the immense popularity of Bollywood cinema in Pakistan.
Pakistani dramas did make a mark too, with Ishq Murshid and Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum making their way into the top 10. However, the overall dominance of Indian content remains clear.
Mukesh Ambani’s Lavish Wedding Sparks Interest
When it comes to personalities, Indian business tycoon Mukesh Ambani was the only Indian figure to make it to the list. His son Anant Ambani’s extravagant wedding festivities, which included grand pre-wedding events in Jamnagar in March, captured the attention of many Pakistanis. The three-day celebrations, which featured notable figures like Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, and global pop stars Rihanna, Katy Perry, and Backstreet Boys, were widely searched.

The wedding, which also marked Bollywood’s prominent presence, was a subject of fascination, with Anant and Radhika Merchant’s wedding concluding in Mumbai in July. The guest list included international stars like Kim Kardashian and Khloe Kardashian, further adding to the wedding's global appeal.
Cricket Matches Fuel Interest in Indian Sports
In addition to movies and personalities, cricket also played a significant role in the searches by Pakistanis. Matches involving India, including India vs. England and India vs. South Africa, were among the most searched sports events. This reflects the strong cricket rivalry and shared enthusiasm for the sport between India and Pakistan.
A Continued Trend of Indian Content in Pakistan
Looking back at 2023, similar patterns of interest were observed, with Pakistanis searching for blockbuster Indian films like Jawan, Pathaan, Tiger 3, and Gadar 2. Personalities such as Tiger Shroff and cricketer Shubman Gill also made it to the top searches.
This recurring trend shows the growing interest and admiration for Indian entertainment, sports, and personalities in Pakistan. As the popularity of Indian films, dramas, and public figures continues to rise, it’s clear that Indian content will remain a dominant force in the digital searches of Pakistan in the years to come.
