Pushpa 2’s ₹119 Crore vs Baby John’s ₹3.65 Crore: Allu Arjun Leaves Varun Dhawan in the Dust!

The clash of films at the box office often provides exciting entertainment for moviegoers. However, the release of Varun Dhawan's much-anticipated movie, Baby John, on December 25 has not lived up to expectations. Despite being seen as a potential breakthrough for the actor, who has yet to deliver a blockbuster in his 12-year career, the film's performance has left fans disappointed. On its third day, Baby John’s earnings were drastically overshadowed by Pushpa 2, earning nearly 39 times less.

Disappointing Earnings for ‘Baby John’

Baby John, directed by A.R. Murugadoss, struggled to captivate audiences despite its heavy promotion and a cameo appearance by Salman Khan. According to early reports from Sacnilk, the film earned only ₹3.65 crore on its third day, bringing its total collection to disappointing levels. By contrast, Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 had collected a whopping ₹119 crore on its third day, cementing its dominance at the box office. Even on its 23rd day, Pushpa 2 managed to outpace Baby John, earning ₹8.75 crore, which is more than double the latter's third-day earnings.

As Pushpa 2 continues its phenomenal run, the film has surpassed ₹1,700 crore in worldwide collections in just 24 days. It is now closing in on the record set by Baahubali 2, which amassed ₹1,788 crore globally. If Pushpa 2 maintains this momentum, it is poised to break the record set by Prabhas’ iconic film.

Meanwhile, the makers of Baby John are reportedly disheartened by its lackluster performance. Despite extensive efforts, including Salman Khan’s highly talked-about cameo and Varun Dhawan adopting a full South Indian style, the film has failed to connect with audiences. While Salman’s appearance was appreciated, it wasn’t enough to salvage the film’s overall reception.

A Tough Road Ahead for ‘Baby John’

Varun Dhawan’s Baby John was seen as a critical project to reinvigorate his career, but the dismal box office performance has cast a shadow on these hopes. With Pushpa 2 continuing to dominate and closing in on historic records, the stark contrast in earnings highlights the uphill battle for Baby John. The film’s makers will now need to reassess their strategy as they face an underwhelming response from the audience.
