Ranveer Allahbadia Granted Interim Protection by Supreme Court Amid Controversy

Ranveer Allahbadia: YouTuber and influencer Ranveer Allahbadia found himself at the center of a major controversy following remarks made on the show ‘India’s Got Latent’, hosted by Samay Raina. His comments—referred to as vulgar and deeply offensive—sparked public outrage, leading to multiple FIRs (First Information Reports) filed against him and his associates, including Apoorva Makhija.

Death Threats and FIRs

The backlash escalated after a particular remark about ‘sex with parents’ aired during the show. Although Ranveer issued an apology, he received death threats and faced mounting legal pressure. FIRs were registered in Maharashtra, Assam, and Jaipur, prompting Ranveer to seek legal relief.

Supreme Court Steps In

Today, the Supreme Court of India provided interim protection for Ranveer Allahbadia. The Court directed him to fully cooperate with the ongoing investigations while staying his arrest. However, the Justices took a strong stance on the language used during the show, calling it perverse and stating that it brought shame not only to his family but also to the wider community.

Restraints and Further Directions

The Supreme Court also imposed conditions on Ranveer, forbidding him from hosting any new shows until the matter is resolved. The bench, led by Justices Surya Kant and N Kotiswar Singh, stated, “The Court has granted interim protection to the YouTuber while directing him to cooperate with the investigation in multiple FIRs. However, he has been restrained from hosting any new shows for now.”

Additionally, the Court issued notices regarding his plea to combine all FIRs into a single case. In the meantime, Allahbadia has been advised to approach local police in Maharashtra and Assam for protection from potential threats against his life.

Legal and Public Reactions

Prominent lawyer Abha Singh expressed satisfaction with the Supreme Court’s firm response, saying, “SC has rightly said that his comments have made mothers, daughters, and children ashamed. SC has of course given him interim protection but has directed the comedian to cooperate with the investigation.”

What’s Next for Ranveer Allahbadia?

As of now, the Court’s interim order allows Allahbadia to avoid immediate arrest, but he must assist in the ongoing probes and abstain from show business for the foreseeable future. The legal proceedings will continue as the Court considers whether to club the FIRs and determine the final outcome.
