Mumbai Police has identified the attacker of Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan as Shariful Islam Shahzad, a Bangladeshi citizen. The revelation came after police recovered his driving license, issued by the Barisal Transport Authority in Bangladesh on November 21, 2019. The license, valid until February 21, 2020, was a learner's permit for two-wheelers and carried his name in both Bangla and English.

Driving License Details

He is believed to have also passed written, oral, and practical tests there in Barisal to attain the license. According to this license, it mentions that Mohammad Rul Hamid was Shahzad's father. License Number 144 stated the truth concerning his nationality.

A special investigation team has been constituted to track Shahzad's activities in India. Mumbai Police wants to know how Shahzad entered the country, who helped him stay in Maharashtra, and whether he was assisted in preparing local documents.

The Attack on Saif Ali Khan

Shahzad attacked Saif Ali Khan on January 16 at the actor's residence, stabbing him six times. Saif underwent surgery at Lilavati Hospital and was discharged on January 21 after five days of recovery. The incident prompted Mumbai Police to form 20 police teams and 15 crime branch teams to apprehend the attacker.
