From Salman’s Marriage to Bollywood Divorces: Lawyer Vandana Shah Spills Industry Secrets

Vandana Shah, one of India’s most prominent divorce lawyers, recently shared intriguing insights into celebrity divorces during a podcast. Known for her expertise and candor, Vandana has worked with high-profile clients, including musician A.R. Rahman and his ex-wife Saira Banu, for whom she issued a joint statement during their divorce.

During the podcast, Vandana shed light on the unique dynamics of Bollywood divorces, revealing how they differ from typical cases and why they often happen for reasons beyond infidelity.

Why Do Bollywood Celebrities Divorce?

According to Vandana, boredom, not cheating, is the primary reason behind many celebrity divorces in Bollywood. She explained that many stars separate because they are constantly in search of the next “big thrill” in life. “For them, it’s about the BBD—Bigger, Better Deal,” she said.

When they feel their marriage has lost its spark or believe their relationship has run its course, they choose to move on. Vandana emphasized that this mindset is unique to Bollywood, where personal and professional lives often blur.

Comparing Bollywood to Hollywood, she added, “We haven’t reached Hollywood’s level of divorces yet. Here, we still believe in the sanctity of marriage to some extent.”

When asked if Bollywood stars consider media coverage during divorces, Vandana replied that most celebrities only want the narrative to reflect an “amicable separation.” She explained, “Celebrities feel judged by society at every step. Even if they are happily married but don’t have children, society criticizes them. People need to understand that it’s their life, and we don’t need to judge them.”

She also pointed out Salman Khan as an example, saying, “Look at Salman Khan—he’s one of the biggest superstars, and he hasn’t even gotten married.”

In a lighter moment during the podcast, Vandana joked about Salman Khan becoming her client. “I would love to get Salman Khan married, and the next moment, I’d handle his divorce,” she said with a smile. She expressed her desire to see Salman settle down and have children, adding that it would be interesting to witness him embrace family life.

Financial Settlements in Bollywood Divorces

Vandana also highlighted the financial aspects of celebrity divorces. She revealed that Bollywood divorce settlements can go as high as Rs. 50 crore. However, property divisions often significantly increase the overall settlement value.

“Money plays a big role, but it’s not just about the cash,” she explained. “Property and asset distribution are major components of high-profile divorces.”

Vandana Shah’s insights provide a fascinating glimpse into the world of Bollywood divorces, highlighting how fame, societal pressures, and personal ambitions influence these decisions.

As an advocate for fairness and understanding, Vandana reminds us that even celebrities face challenges in their personal lives. Her hope for Salman Khan’s marriage and candid humor add a relatable touch to an otherwise serious topic.

Bollywood divorces may seem glamorous, but behind the headlines are real people navigating complex emotions and societal expectations. Vandana’s revelations remind us that empathy and understanding should always be part of the conversation.
