Samantha Ruth Prabhu has recently praised the Hema Committee report, which has sparked a significant response from actors in the Kerala film industry about the abuse they have faced. She is now urging the Telangana government to release a similar report on sexual harassment in the Telugu film industry. According to Samantha, such a report would be crucial in shaping policies and creating a safer work environment for women.

Praise for the Hema Committee Report

In an Instagram story, Samantha expressed her admiration for the Hema Committee report and the efforts of the Women in Cinema Collective (WCC) in Kerala. She stated, "We, the women of the Telugu film industry, welcome the Hema Committee report and applaud the persistent efforts of the WCC in Kerala, which has laid the path to this moment."

Call for a Similar Report in Telugu Film Industry

Samantha highlighted the need for the Telangana government to publish its own report on sexual harassment. She emphasized that such a report would help establish safer working conditions and develop policies that protect women in the Telugu Film Industry (TFI). "We hereby urge the Telangana government to publish the submitted sub-committee report on sexual harassment, which can help frame government and industry policies," Samantha added.

Details of the Hema Committee Report

The 235-page report by the Justice Hema Committee, established by the Kerala state government in 2017, revealed that the Malayalam film industry is predominantly controlled by a small group of male producers, directors, and actors. The report was completed in 2019 but has faced legal challenges that delayed its public release.

Samantha’s Upcoming Projects

Samantha Ruth Prabhu was last seen in the film Kushi with Vijay Deverakonda and has upcoming projects including Bangaram and Raj and DK's Citadel: Honey Bunny, starring alongside Varun Dhawan, Kay Kay Menon, and Sikandar Kher. Citadel: Honey Bunny is set to release in November this year.
