Sardool Sikander, renowned Punjabi singer, passed away at the age of 60 on Wednesday. Reportedly, Sardool had was undergoing treatment for COVID-19 at a hospital in Mohali. The singer was best known for tracks like Ek Charkha Gali De Wich Dha Laya and Sanu Ishq Brandi Char Gayi.
What did Amrinder Singh tweet?
Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh paid tribute to the singer on Twitter. He wrote, “Extremely saddened to learn of the demise of legendary Punjabi singer Sardool Sikander. He was recently diagnosed with #Covid19 and was undergoing treatment for the same. The world of Punjabi music is poorer today. My heartfelt condolences to his family and fans (sic).”

Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh informed on Twitter about the demise of the singer. Many singers and celebrities also paid tributes to the late singer on social media.

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh tweeted a photograph of the late singer and expressed his grief. He wrote: “Oh WAHEGURU. RIP #SardoolSikander Bhaji…Punjabi music di shaan.“
Singer Harshdeep also tweeted to pay tribute to Sardool:
Vishal Dadlani re-tweeted Harshdeep Kaur’s post and wrote: “I can’t believe #SardoolSikander – Saab has left us. This is heartbreaking and far too personal. A true pioneer, he was the soul of humility and a wellspring of music. My condolences to the family, esp. to my brothers Alaap Sikander and Sarang Sikander.” Alaap and Sarang Sikander are the sons of Sardool.
Mika Singh shared a set of pictures of himself with the singer and wrote: “When we talk about Punjabi singing or voice only one name comes to mind… the legendary #SardoolSikander. Sadly, he has left for his heavenly abode. This is the most upsetting news that I have heard, I truly wish I could have met him just once more.” In another tweet, he added: “May Waheguru bless his soul, Rest in eternal peace.”
