Shubhangi Atre Reflects on Daughter’s Day 2024: Juggling Angoori Bhabhi Fame and Motherhood Guilt

Shubhangi Atre, widely known for her portrayal of Angoori Bhabhi in the popular TV show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!, recently opened up about the challenges she faced early in her career as a mother. In an exclusive interview on Daughter’s Day 2024, Shubhangi shared how juggling her acting career and motherhood wasn’t easy, especially when her daughter, Ashi, was just 11 months old.

Reflecting on that time, Shubhangi recalled the demanding schedule she had while working on the TV show Kasturi in 2007. She explained how being the lead actress meant long hours on set, which left her little time to spend with her baby. "When I started Kasturi, Ashi was only 11 months old. We had both day and night shoots, and being the central character, I couldn’t step away," she said. "I don't think I'll ever fully get over the guilt of being away from her during that time. The life of a television actor is filled with sacrifices, and it's a big commitment."

Now that her daughter is older and living in the U.S., Shubhangi expressed how much she worries about Ashi’s safety, especially in light of recent reports of harassment and crimes. "Ashi and I are miles apart, and it breaks my heart to hear about these horrible incidents. More than teaching girls how to stay safe, we need to start by teaching our boys how to respect women," she stressed. "Self-defense is important for girls, but when faced with overwhelming situations, there's only so much they can do. It’s crucial that our society changes its mentality and raises boys to understand respect."

Shubhangi’s journey in the television industry has been notable, with roles in shows like Do Hanso Ka Joda, Havan, Chidiya Ghar, and Adhuri Kahaani Hamari. Her career began in 2007 with Kasautii Zindagii Kay, quickly leading to her breakout role as the lead in Kasturi. Despite the professional success, balancing motherhood and her career has been an ongoing challenge for the actress.

Her story serves as a reminder of the struggles working mothers often face and highlights the importance of societal changes in both parenting and gender dynamics.
