All that glitters is not gold! From diamond earrings to a Tifanny & Co. bracelet – Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez reportedly just needed to send a list to Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who would then pay for her “gifts” and deliver them to her directly or via one of his associates.
How Sukesh introduced himself to Jacqueline?
Sukesh introduced himself to Jacqueline as Sun TV’s owner. He also claimed to be a member of the “political family” of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa.
He told Jacqueline that he was a huge fan of her and that she deserved to be part of dome of the movie projects he had planned in the south.
What’s the reality?
Well, in reality, Sukesh Chandrashekhar, a 32-year-old millionaire conman, has been involved in extorting hundreds of crores from politicians, businessmen and celebs including Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi.
Sukesh was born into a lower middle-class family in Bengaluru’s Bhawani Nagar. He dropped out of school after Class 12, while his father always encouraged him for studies. His father died recently.
He started working in real estate. As a minor, he also began organising car races.
How Sukesh became a conman?
Sukesh began to cheat people by posing as a senior government officer over the phone when he was just 17. In 2007, he posed as a senior bureaucrat and duped more than 100 people on the pretext of getting their work done by the Bangalore Development Authority. However, he was soon exposed. He was arrested for the first time in 2007 in Bangalore.
Out of police custody, he did not stop and later made associates, expanded his racket and started extorting and cheating people. Police arrested him several times, but as soon as he was released on bail, he resumed cheating people.
How Sukesh met Jacqueline?
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) said in its chargesheet that Sukesh introduced himself to Jacqueline as “Shekhar Ratna Vela” and contacted her through her makeup artist.
Someone claiming to be a government official reportedly called the makeup artist and told him that Jacqueline should contact Shekhar Ratna Vela, who is a “very important person”.
Sukesh Chandrashekhar then made a “spoofed” call and replicated the number of Amit Shah’s office, to befriend Jacqueline.
Links with Nora Fatehi
As per ED chargesheet, Sukesh bought a BMW S-Series for Bollywood actress and dancer Nora Fatehi using the extortion money. The actress had previously denied involvement in the Rs 200 crore money laundering case.
Later, she accepted that Sukesh had given her the car and that his wife Leena Maria Paul had given her a Gucci bag and an iPhone as a “token of love.”
Where is Sukesh now?
Sukesh Chandrashekhar is currently in Tihar jail in Delhi and has 15 FIRs registered against him.
