Tamannaah Bhatia Breaks Stereotypes with Stree 2's Aaj Ki Raat: The Inside Story
Tamannaah Bhatia made headlines with her special appearance in the blockbuster film Stree 2. The movie, featuring stars like Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao, and Pankaj Tripathi, broke numerous box office records after its August release. Tamannaah’s dance number, Aaj Ki Raat, has become a major hit, adding to the film's success.
Facing the Pressure After Kaavaalaa
In a recent interview with Grazia India, Tamannaah opened up about her concerns following the massive success of Kaavaalaa, a song she performed with Rajinikanth for the film Jailer. She admitted feeling the pressure to outdo her previous performance. “After Kaavaalaa became a global sensation, I wondered if I could match that success with Aaj Ki Raat,” she said.
Why Tamannaah Took the Risk
Despite her reservations, Tamannaah agreed to join Stree 2 after being convinced by the film’s director, Amar Kaushik. “When Amar told me that Aaj Ki Raat was crucial to the film’s storyline, I knew I had to be a part of it,” she explained. Her decision was bolstered by the director's confidence in the song's significance.
Breaking the Stereotype
Tamannaah also discussed her efforts to avoid being typecast in similar roles. She shared that she had previously been stereotyped as the “girl-next-door” and sought roles that challenged these expectations. “I focus on the impact of the role rather than its length. I want people to remember my performances,” she said.
Success of Stree 2
Stree 2 has been a massive success, amassing over ₹500 crore in India within 19 days of its release. Tamannaah’s Aaj Ki Raat has already garnered over 200 million views on YouTube. This success follows her previous hit in Stree (2018), where Nora Fatehi’s dance number, Kamariya, also achieved chartbuster status.Tamannaah was recently seen in Vedaa, alongside John Abraham and Sharvari Wagh. Directed by Nikkhil Advani, this film also made waves around the same time as Stree 2.
