Filmyzilla and Tamilrockers have leaked Kavin and Amritha Aiyer starrer Tamil horror thriller movie ‘Lift‘ (2021) on their websites.
The piracy websites have leaked the Hindi Dubbed version of the movie and have made it available for free download on their platforms. The film has been leaked in its Hindi Dubbed version days after its official release on Disney+Hotstar.
The film garnered generally positive reviews from critics, who hailed the performances of lead actors.
Meanwhile, some other notorious piracy websites include tamilrockers, hdhub4u, extramovies, 9xflix, katmoviehd, movierulz, downloadhub, mp4moviez, moviesda and filmywap. These websites are among those piracy websites which have a huge collection of movies and web series, all leaked illegally.
According to reports, the entertainment industry suffers approximately USD 2.8 billion loss every year due to piracy.
Piracy has been impacting the box office movie collections around the world, causing a decline in the number of people going to watch movies in theaters. Various OTT platforms also suffer a lot of losses due to piracy websites leaking their content, resulting in lower subscriptions.
Piracy is a punishable offence under Indian piracy laws. The penalty for a person convicted of their first offence is six months can land them in prison from six months to three years. They can also be fined between Rs 50,000 and Rs 2 lakhs.
Furthermore, recording a movie without the written consent of a producer is also a crime under the 2019 Cinematograph Act.
