Manoj Bajpayee was one of the rare Hindi film actors to say yes to a web series before the OTT boom that occurred during the epidemic. Since 2019, the actor has played Srikant Tiwari in The Family Man on Amazon Video. The third season of the show, which was created by Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, is anticipated to start filming later this year.
The actor revealed that working on the web series was a bet that took five years when the filmmakers Raj and DK came to him with the premise and script. The actor made his acting debut with a small role in Govind Nihalani’s Drohkaal (1994).
Manoj has experience working in film, television, and has participated in a number of short films, but he had never before worked in a web series.
The actor said to Kamiya Jani that his wife, Shabana, assumed he would be working on a television show when he took the part. Manoj said, “Even The Family Man was a chance that I’ve taken. That time, too, I was doing quite well with my film career. My wife assumed I was going to make a TV series because OTT was not that big.” in a joint interview with The Bombay Journey X Sunday Brunch.
In his statement, he continued, “I used to receive a lot of offers and when I used to explore OTT at that time, I used to see that there was a template – thriller, murder thriller, romance or abuses – which was available and doing well. I was seeking for something new which was apart from all this else it’s not worth it. To my luck, Raj and DK came through [casting director] Mukesh Chhabra. They offered a 20 minute narration.
Starring in the inaugural season were Sharib Hashmi, Priyamani, Neeraj Madhav, Sunny Hinduja, and Shreya Dhanwanthary. Second-season guest star Samantha Ruth Prabhu as Raji, a villain. In June 2021, Amazon Video began streaming the second season.
At the conclusion of the second season finale, the third season was alluded to. Manoj clarified that Raj and DK are still working on the manuscript. With Varun Dhawan and Samantha, the co-creators are collaborating on the new Amazon Video series Citadel.
