From Sonipat to Mumbai: The Untold Journey of Actor-Singer Viikky Badoli
Discover the inspiring journey of Haryanvi actor Viikky Badoli, from Sonipat to Bollywood. He opens up about struggles, rejections, jail time, spirituality, and his upcoming films, music, and reality shows in 2025.
Sonipat, Haryana — Rising from the lanes of Sonipat’s village to Mumbai’s fast-paced entertainment industry, actor and singer Viikky Badoli, has carved a unique journey filled with struggles, heartbreaks, and comebacks. In a candid conversation, he opened up about his battles in the film industry, jail time, spirituality, and his dreams for the future.
Early Life and Bollywood Dreams
Badoli’s artistic aspirations began soon after completing his 12th in 2011. While pursuing a multimedia and animation course in Delhi, he secretly started taking acting lessons at Marwah Studio, Noida. By 2012, without informing his family, he left for Mumbai to chase his acting dream.
His early days were marked by small roles in TV serials like Sasural Simar Ka and Love School, as well as a part in the unreleased film Nastik alongside Arjun Rampal. “Mumbai is a city where millions arrive with dreams, but very few survive the struggle,” he recalled, describing his years of uncertainty.
Survival in Mumbai and Return to Haryana
Like many strugglers, Badoli juggled multiple jobs to sustain himself, even opening a restaurant in Mumbai. Yet, he admits success there comes without a fixed timeline:
“In Mumbai, you never know if success will come in 5 years or 20 years. Without money, survival is nearly impossible.”
The COVID-19 pandemic became a turning point. With businesses shut and uncertainty looming, he returned to Haryana in 2020. There, he re-established himself with business ventures while reigniting his passion for films and music.

Facing Rejections and Industry Politics
Badoli openly shared the pain of repeated rejections and false promises during auditions:
“Many times, I was told I was selected, only to find someone else got the role. Nepotism exists, but if you have true talent, no one can stop you. Just like Yash in KGF, kings are made by courage.”
He also revealed instances of fraudsters exploiting aspiring actors with fake offers — a harsh reality of Mumbai’s glamour industry.
A Brush with Jail and Life Lessons
Perhaps the most unexpected chapter in his journey was spending 10 days in jail after a personal dispute escalated. Instead of bitterness, he calls it an experience that shaped him:
“Even saints and gods faced imprisonment. I accepted it as a role life gave me. It taught me the value of character and resilience.”
Inside, he witnessed the stark contrast of life for long-term prisoners and emerged with a renewed sense of gratitude.
Music, Spirituality, and Bhakti
Parallel to acting, Badoli has created devotional Haryanvi songs, especially for Kawad Yatras. His strong spiritual connect with Lord Shiva, Hanuman, and Ram reflects in his art.
“Without divine will, nothing is possible. My energy for acting and singing comes from my devotion.”
He is currently working on a music album with T-Series, besides Punjabi, Hindi, and Haryanvi songs.
Big Projects Ahead
2025 marks a new chapter as Badoli is set to appear in two major Bollywood films, web series on Netflix, and a high-profile reality show. His roles will include powerful negative characters, which he believes are as impactful as lead heroes.
Thoughts on Politics and Nationalism
Looking at the trajectory of actors-turned-politicians, Badoli admits he would consider politics in the future:
“Politics is not about power but service. If given a chance, I will serve people so they don’t face what I went through.”
He also criticized collaborations with Pakistani actors post-Operation Sindoor, calling it “deeply painful and against the spirit of the nation.”
The Comeback Spirit
Despite setbacks, including business failures and personal lows, Badoli insists struggles only fueled his determination:
“When people wrote me off, saying I was finished, I came back stronger. Negativity has been my biggest motivation.”
From Sonipat’s Badoli village to Mumbai’s uncertain lights, Viikky Badoli’s story is not just about fame but about resilience, spirituality, and self-belief. With films, music albums, and reality shows in the pipeline, he stands at the brink of a new phase — determined to prove that true talent, when coupled with faith, can overcome every obstacle.
