IND vs ENG: Rishabh Pant, India’s wicketkeeper-batsman, returned to the Test squad on Wednesday after recovering from COVID-19.
On July 8, Rishabh Pant tested positive with the feared virus.
Rishabh Pant’s arrival was verified by the BCCI on their official Twitter account.
“Hello @RishabhPant17, great to have you back,” wrote the BCCI.
Rishabh Pant may have contracted the Delta 3 strain while visiting a dentist for a toothache, contradicting to prior allegations that his participation in the Euro Championships may have contributed to his illness.
Following Pant’s positive test, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah issued a cautionary letter to the Indian contingent, advising them to avoid crowded gatherings.
KL Rahul took over wicketkeeping duties in the ongoing three-day practice match against County Select XI in Pant’s absence.
Rahul smashed a century in the first innings, retiring on 101.
However, there is no official word on Wriddhiman Saha, who was also placed in isolation after Pant’s infection.
The Indian Test squad will resume play against England in a five-match series starting on August 4.
