₹10 Crore Gold Hidden in Sweet Boxes Seized on Yamuna Expressway, Smuggling Ring Busted!

MATHURA – In a significant bust, police seized approximately ₹10 crore worth of gold jewelry concealed in sweet boxes from a car on the Yamuna Expressway. The incident occurred late at night near the Mant Toll Plaza, where Mant police stopped an Indiva car heading from Delhi for a routine check.

During the inspection, officers discovered that the vehicle was carrying seven sweet boxes filled not with sweets, but with 12.3 kilograms of gold jewelry. The individuals in the car could not provide satisfactory explanations or proper documentation for the gold.

Gold Hidden in Sweet Boxes The gold, hidden cleverly in seven sweet boxes, weighed a total of 12 kilograms and 300 grams. The seized jewelry is valued at around ₹10 crore. This unusual method of transporting gold raised suspicions, leading the authorities to believe it was an attempt to smuggle the precious metal undetected.

The police detained the individuals in the car for further questioning, suspecting a larger smuggling operation. Initial investigations suggest the gold was being transported for sale in the illegal market, though more details will emerge as the investigation progresses.

Heightened Vigilance on Yamuna Expressway The Yamuna Expressway is a key route for transporting goods between Delhi and other parts of India. Police have intensified checks along the route to curb smuggling and ensure that illicit activities, including the illegal transportation of gold and other valuables, are intercepted.

This bust comes amidst increased vigilance in the area due to rising reports of smuggling activities. The authorities are now investigating the source and destination of the gold, along with the identity of those involved in the operation.

As investigations continue, police have assured that they will step up efforts to crack down on similar smuggling attempts.
