A new infection that affects the lungs of the COVID-19 patients has been reported in Patna, Bihar. Known as ‘White Fungus,’ the infection affects the lungs of the patients.

This comes at a time when the cases of Black Fungus are rising among post-COVID-19 patients across the country. The new infection works like the COVID-19 virus.

Dr. SN Singh, head of PMCH’s Microbiology Department, said four cases of White Fungus have been reported till now.

It also damages the lungs of the patients. However, it can be treated by antifungal medicines.

Other parts of the patients’ body which can be affected by this infection include the nail, skin, stomach, kidney, brain, private parts, and mouth.

People with insufficient immunity, diabetes patients, and those who are taking steroids for a long time are the most vulnerable to the White Fungus.
